Christine L. Evans is a ceramic figure sculptor working in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in ceramics from the University of New Mexico in 2002. After graduation, Christine devoted herself to teaching ceramics in various community art schools and to developing her own studio practice. Over the years Christine’s work has evolved into an evocative expression of emotional authenticity that speaks of a connection with the natural world. Her figures project the energy of thoughts and feelings in ways that resonate with the viewer on a primal, subconscious level. Christine was awarded a six-month residency at the North Carolina Pottery Center in Seagrove, NC in 2019. Her art is represented by Shidoni Gallery in Tesuque, NM and by Creative Gateways in Scottsdale, AZ.

Artist’s Interview
I usually work in the home studio to create art for the market, whether that be for art fairs or for galleries. Sometimes life goes a mile a minute and there isn’t much time to explore new ideas. This residency gave me time out of my usual routine to work on something very important to my process, and for that I am very grateful.
I will hold my time at Buffalo Creek in memory like a precious gem. There is nothing like taking the time to really care for one’s artistic journey and this place, working alongside other artists, and the staff are exceptional in creating a first-rate residency experience. Thank you so much to Steve, Lana, Bill, and Mel for providing a harmonious, inspirational environment perfect for artistic growth.”
