“Every artist residency is unique in its own way. Buffalo Creek is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra’s overlooking Carson Valley, a stunning location that puts a smile on your face everyday. The studios are huge and well equipped with every possible metal working tools and machines, you could possibly want. I discovered new tools and had the time to try new things and expand my art practice. The sculpture park is filled with beautiful sculptures, massive and delicate, figurative and abstract. We found the perfect place to install my sculpture, Nevada Sentinel: The Ground Upon Which We Stand.

The most important part of an artist residency are the people that work there and the other artists that are there during my stay. Steve (a gifted artist himself) and Lana Hardy have made all this possible by creating Buffalo Creek Art Center. Bill and Mel look after the artists and the ranch and take wonderful care of everything. I was often touched by their generosity.

One of the benefits of an artist residency is meeting artists from all over the country/world, exchanging ideas, and learning about each other’s work. I thoroughly enjoyed all the artists I met and will be staying in touch with them. I am most grateful to Steve and Lana Hardy for the opportunity to work in a beautiful place with wonderful people.”
