After earning her MFA from Georgia State University, Ashley was an adjunct instructor at the University of North Florida. Recently she has moved to Hartford Connecticut where works as a full-time ceramic artist. While at the Buffalo Creek Art Center Ashley made a number of ceramic sculptures that she has for sale in our art gallery.

“The residency at BCAC is an absolutely amazing opportunity. The ranch is set in a stunning part of the country with views that cultivate creativity and provides endless inspiration. I used my time there to experiment with materials and concepts I had been meaning to take time to do in my own studio. It was refreshing to shed the weight of the real world while I was there and focus solely on my work. The facilities are beautiful and topnotch and if there is anything you need, all you have to do is ask and it magically appears.

Another aspect I loved about BCAC, is the family I felt I gained while I was there, everyone from the individuals that keep the ranch running, to the other artists who were in residence with me. I gained so much knowledge about how other artists work and how they navigate the art world to be successful in their own way. I came away from my residency inspired to take my work in a new direction. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity Steve provided for me as an artist and know it will impact my career and future bodies of work.”/div> – Ashley Maxwell
