Caprice Pierucci received her Bachelor in Fine Arts from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1983 and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1989. She is a sculptor currently working mostly with wood. The work reflects her background in fibers. The forms are mostly linear and use progressive rhythm to create movement and shadow. Her most recent work deals with the idea of forms developing over time. The layers and undulating rhythms in the forms speak of mortality and the huge expanses of time that lead to one particular moment of beauty.

Caprice has been in over ninety exhibitions and has won numerous awards. Her work is also included in some prestigious collections such as Westinghouse, Morgan Stanley and the Rockefeller collection. At BCAC Caprice was able to finish two sculptures for a gallery she works with. The exposure she got from the BCAC Instagram site got her a contract with a large New York art gallery.

“My stay at Buffalo Creek Art Center was the most amazing experience. It is an “Artist’s Heaven.” It is such a peaceful beautiful place with stunning views and gorgeous grounds. The workshops are large and fully loaded with anything you might need. I worked in the new woodshop and produced several pieces during my stay. Steve Hardy was very helpful and shared several woodworking tips. There was a camaraderie among the artists, and it was fun to watch their pieces progress. With Lake Tahoe being twenty minutes away we also found time for fun. The grounds people Bill and Mel were wonderful and accommodating. Thank you to Steve and Lana for your generosity.”
