Carrie Fischer has always loved sculpting with ceramics from an early age. She and her husband, Tom, founded Fishstone Studio in 2006, a business that specializes in architectural concrete. Carrie enjoyed creating functional art with concrete for 17 years and learned how to use it as a sculpting medium. Now, she is a full-time sculptor who explores new ways to make public art and commissions with high performance concrete. One of her recent works is Moonshadow, a stunning sculpture made of concrete and stainless steel for the Buffalo Creek Art Center Sculpture Park.

“Buffalo Creek Art Center is a surreal spot tucked in the Sierra Mountains and a gem of a place to have an artist residency. My time at the ranch was spent reflecting, connecting and building a monumental sculpture in record time of 4 weeks. The connection to the land and art that Steve and Lana have amassed is overwhelming. Artists looking to join this opportunity should prepare themselves on many levels for a rewarding, exhausting and inspiring experience that can be an escape from your everyday studio.”
