“Buffalo Creek Art Center was a fantastic residency. Solitude. Reflection. Every morning the sun spilled over the mountain and flooded the metal shop with waves of light. It was impossible not to find inspiration each morning on this property. GO BIG! That was my motivation for this experience. My goal was to push the limits of my ability to fabricate a larger scale piece, something I could not easily do at my studio. The equipment available and space provided made this possible. I truly hope my sculpture, ‘Hot Shot’, sparks curiosity and smiles along the way. It’s fun. It’s colorful. This sculpture pays tribute to the women & men who risk their lives to save all creatures in the most demanding situations.

Steve Hardy was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was always available and genuinely interested in the artists’ work. I would be remiss not to mention Mel and Bill. They are tremendous assets to the property and program. From check in on arrival to the last wave goodbye, they were more than accommodating and willing to lend a hand. Best of all… I made new friends! Thank you for the experience!.”
