Dewane got B.A. Sculpture Beuna Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa in 1992 and his MFA in Sculpture Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana in 1996. He is Distinguished Professor of Sculpture, at The University of Texas at Tyler, Texas and President Emeritus, Texas Sculpture Group, International Sculpture Center Charter.

While at BCAC Dewayne made an eight foot tall metal sculpture, the “Lonely Matador” and a thirty foot sculpture, “Vapor Trail Daydream”. They both reside on the Buffalo Creek Art Center Sculpture park.
