“I lack the words to fully convey how incredible it was to participate in the Buffalo Creek Art Center Residency. It was a significant challenge and an amazing opportunity, for which I am profoundly grateful.

My initial challenge was landing in a country where I faced a substantial language barrier. Thanks to technology and the goodwill of the people, I managed to overcome it. Following that, there was the adjustment of routines, stepping out of my comfort zone, and working in a different place with machines that were unfamiliar to me, each with its own quirks. Learning how everything operated in a foreign country became my new challenge. However, the most beautiful part of this journey was encountering wonderful people, always willing to help and support. We formed a small community in the residency with the other artists, evolving from complete strangers to a bonded family. We shared not only our workspace but also meeting places. Every night, we gathered to cook, share, and build connections through laughter, stories, and, why not, the occasional glass of wine. A heartfelt thank you to Jake, Caprice, and Carola for all the shared moments.

Regarding the place… it’s incredible! How I miss waking up every morning to the view of the Sierra Mountains! Such a place inspires creativity at every moment and fills you with energy. Not only was the landscape spectacular, but also the facilities and the hospitality of Steve and Lana, and the people working there, Bill, Mel and Tony.

On an artistic level, I had the opportunity to experiment and work with a material I had never worked with before—corten steel. This residency gave me the chance to grow as an artist, to live an inspiring and comforting experience. It was a dream come true.

I returned filled with energy, renewed, and profoundly grateful for life.”
