Jake grew up on a cattle ranch in rural Nebraska. William Davis taught him the craft of bronze sculpture before his passing in 2010. At BCAC Jake completed two ceramic busts that he will have cast in bronze for a commission he has back home.

“It has been wonderful to work here at Buffalo Creek Art Center. The facilities are great and the whole atmosphere is geared to producing and experimenting. I appreciate the nurturing environment Steve has created. Bill and Mel have been wonderful hosts.

The best part about the stay has been interacting with other artists. Not only has this been a group of interesting people with unique life stories I consider them to be outstanding sculptors in their respective fields. The atmosphere here at BCAC has been one of sharing knowledge and techniques. I have been exposed to techniques and materials that I will incorporate into my art in the future.

Creating art can sometimes be lonely. It has been great to interact with other people who have dedicated themselves and their lives to creating art. Thanks Gina, Hector, LB, John, Breezy, and Yoko. Thanks to Bill and Mel for the hospitality. And thanks to Steve for putting all this together.

I really appreciate John coming by and helping and sharing his time with us. I have an enormous amount of respect for him and his honesty and perspective on life.”
