Jonathan received his BFA from Temple University, Tyler School of Art and is an MFA candidate at Georgia State University. His figurative and hyper realistic ceramic sculptures can best be described as a refinement of form, fluid contour of line and polished surface that expresses the simplicity of the ceramic material itself. At BCAC Jon made a male bust and several casts. He also made a metal sculpture, titled The Dream Catcher, which will be installed on the artist’s ranch house front lawn.

“During my time at Buffalo Creek Art Center I had the opportunity to meet and work with artists from other disciplines and discuss ideas. I was provided the resources, space, knowledge, and support to create work I never thought I would have coming into the residency. I came to Buffalo Creek with the intent of sharpening my figurative rendering skills in porcelain, which I did… and finished my stay with a 7 foot tall kinetic metal sculpture, as well as having a casting of the bust I created placed at the bottom of Lake Tahoe by scuba divers! I was able to hone the abilities I came with, but was also allotted the time to explore, learn about, and strengthen other skills. It was such a privilege to be able to have 24/7 access to the studios, while staying comfortably in a beautiful home, just a short walk or bike ride away. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is great, and beautiful Lake Tahoe is just minutes away. Buffalo Creek is a motivating place to work alongside other hard working artists, and focus on your work while being in a supportive, fun, laidback and inspiring environment.”
