Jordy Buckles works in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), developing studio built sculpture. Jordy received his Trade Qualification (TQ) in sheet metal fabrication from the BC Institute of Technology in 2008. In 2001 Jordy attended Emily Carr University of Art and Design and in 1998 attended the Liberal Arts courses at Vancouver Island University. Jordy gained his studio technician experience from a number of BC artists prior to opening his studio in 2008. Since then Jordy has forged and formed sculpture in steel, aluminum, copper, stainless and bronze. While at BCAC Jordy made four fabulous metal sculptures. Two for the BCAC Sculpture Park, one he sold and a small one for artist’s ranch house.

“Buffalo Creek Art Center is an excellent facility with great staff and all the room a sculpture artist needs to explore their practice. During my residency I was amazed and inspired by the Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. The opportunity to create large scale sculptures is something every sculpture artist looks forward to the sculptures I was able to build at the BCAC were my first large scale works. I am very grateful to Steve and Lana of BCAC for this amazing adventure! I hope that BCAC keeps growing and artist keep exploring! I am proud to be the first Canadian amongst the International crowd”
