Leroy Transfield born in New Zealand and currently living in Orem, Utah, is an impressionistic ceramic sculptor whose figurative sculptures are influenced by the masters. While at BCAC Leroy made a series of “sketches” or small ceramic sculptures and one large piece.

“My stay at Buffalo Creek Art Center was a productive time where I got to focus almost exclusively on my art. I took advantage of the time as best I could and put in long hours each day. As the time passed I developed new ideas and went in directions I was not expecting. For me the most rewarding thing was to challenge myself and to not create in as familiar a way. If I were to do it again I would try to develop some ideas early on before coming so I could spend more time on enlarging one or two good ideas. Other than this it was great to meet new people, get outside the usual comfort zone and try something new. Much recommended for any artist who wants to broaden their horizons.”
