Misty Gamble is a professional artist and educator residing in West Texas. Misty’s current work, life-size ceramic figurative sculptures, and installations of multiple figurative fragments, focuses attention on issues surrounding femininity and conventional standards. At BCAC, Misty completed one figurative work as part of a series that looks at ideas stemming from ecofeminism and the beauty myth.

“What a wonderful opportunity for me to have been an Artist-in-Residence at Buffalo Creek Art Center. The timing was perfect to be with a community of artists, doing focused work in the beautiful Eastern Sierras… all much needed after a busy year teaching at a new school in Texas during a pandemic. I found the residency invaluable to my development and growth as an artist. It was a privilege to have spent my days and time working in the studio, diving deep into my creative practice. I made the very most of this time and continued developing a new body of work steeped in intersectional feminism, vegetarian theory and animal rights philosophy. One of the highlights of the residency was the ability to get to know the distinguished group of artists selected to live and work together. I am very grateful and fortunate to have been selected to be a part of this cohort. The caretakers, Mel and Bill were generous and supportive. Thank you to Steve Hardy for making this possible.”
