“My residency at Buffalo Creek was like a vacation to a quiet peaceful retreat compared to my normal studio in Midtown Sacramento Ca. The shop facility was fantastic. Big, open, huge doors. Exactly what every metal artist dreams of. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and inspiring. It was so nice to get out of the crowded city and just take a break from the world. The whole experience was truly fantastic. Steve, Lana, Bill and Mel are super helpful and supportive. They really treat you like family. Everyone was super encouraging. Working on the property is such a peaceful experience that you just become part of it all. I stopped to watch the sunset almost every night. Something I rarely do at home. That big valley sky just stops you and reminds you that nature is awe-inspiring.

I originally wanted to build a piece for the sculpture garden because I thought the property was such a wonderful setting for sculpture. After being there, I wanted to build a piece for the sculpture garden because there’s something about the property that makes you want to be part of its life and energy. The experience of such kindness and positive support was truly fantastic. I don’t think it really hit me until I was gone. I can never thank the whole crew of The Buffalo Creek Art Center enough for their hospitality and friendship. It truly is a life changing experience. “
