Tom got his MFA in sculpture at the University of Texas, at San Antonia in 2005. After teaching art at the college level for over 20 years, he spent the last few years as a full time mixed media artist. While at Buffalo Creek Art Center Tom made three wood sculptures using material he found on the property.

“For me, Buffalo Creek offered an extraordinary opportunity to explore scaling up my work (thanks in part to a tall, well-equipped studio space), manipulating new material and experimenting with exterior placement on the grounds. I enjoyed and learned a lot from my daily interactions with the other artists in residence and staff, and the setting itself was both relaxing and incredibly stimulating, particularly for someone who responds significantly to place.”
