Steven Buduo is a contemporary sculptor from Worcester, MA. Primarily working in steel and concrete, his practice is a persistent study into the significance of space. A graduate of Bowdoin College, Buduo’s formal art training consists of multiple residencies in the US and Europe, including Pinea-Linea in Rota, Spain; Burren College in Ballyvaughan, Ireland; the Steel Yard in Providence, RI. In 2020 he received the Sean Scully Fellowship at Burren College of Art and in 2023 was a finalist for the William and Dorothy Yeck Sculpture Award. Steven’s project at BCAC was a large metal sculpture titled “Allow for Shadows”.

“I’m deeply grateful for my time at Buffalo Creek Art Center. BCAC provided the ideal setup to realize a large outdoor metal sculptureā€”a fully equipped studio, outdoor space, and access to the unique materials that I needed. Steve, Bill, and the team were open to exploring ideas for the sculpture, placement, and long-term maintenance. Living on-site gave me 24/7 studio access, allowing me to focus on my work and collaborate with other artists as they pursued their respective projects. The experience was everything I had hoped for, offering the chance to create an ambitious piece alongside other like-minded artists in a truly spectacular landscape.”
