“Being invited to Buffalo Creek Art Center was a wonderful opportunity. As a Ceramic based artist/sculptor I work in a very solitary setting in my studio. Therefore, the opportunity to have experiences working on a day-to-day basis in a different setting interacting with other creatives will always be advantageous to me. Sharing the lovely ranch house with three fantastic sculptors, and following their journey of creation throughout the residency was wonderful. Having never previously experienced any time in the high Sierras, let alone living 25 minutes from Lake Tahoe during this residency was inspiring and eye-opening. I was definitely influenced by the expansiveness of the topography and the grounds of the center itself, including the art that previous residents install.

Steve, Bill, Mel, Tony, Scott and the rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and lovely to work with. I was able to explore forms that were both inspired by my experience in the environment and simply experiment in the ceramic studio due to the freedom that I had to focus strictly on my work for the entire month.

I will treasure the time that I spent at Buffalo Creek Art Center!”
